Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to Akagera National Park. You'll arrive at the park and then drive to your hotel to check in.
Have lunch and then take a boat safari on Lake Ihema. Take the boat today and spend the next day on safari in Akagera's northern sector.
Drive time: 2 hours and 30 minutes, or 30 minutes by helicopter from Augusta
4
Day 4: Game drive and Boat Safari
Akagera National Park is a Savannah Park filled with elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and lions. After an early breakfast, we go on a game drive in quest of these species. The game drive takes us to the northern portion of the park, where the majority of the animals like to live. Look for Zebras, Giraffes, and Impalas, which are generally seen along the game trails.
You'll take the lakeshore route, which usually has a lot of wildlife because it's near the lakes.
5
Day 5: Community Tour near Akagera National Park
Eastern Rwanda is rather flat in comparison to the rest of the country, making it ideal for pastoralists. You will visit a cow keepers' homestead and participate in various activities. Start early by milking the cows by hand. The herdsman will show you how to comfort and milk the cow. You'll also learn how milk is traditionally processed into products such as ghee and yogurt.
We hope this provides a look into the daily lives of these farmers.
6
Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest, the home of chimps.
This morning, we leave Akagera National Park for Nyungwe Forest National Park via Kigali. We'll stop in Huye for lunch and then visit the national museum to discover more about Rwanda's history and traditions. Alternatively, you can participate in the Huye Mountain Coffee Experience. Following this encounter, return to your accommodation for the night.
Drive time - 7 hours Or Helicopter (Robinson) - 35 minutes.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy trek Nyungwe forest
Following an early breakfast, we depart for Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest. The forest is rich in botanical diversity and is home to 13 species of primates, including chimps, L'Hoest monkeys, and Columbus monkeys, as well as 300 species of birds. Your tour guide will take you to the briefing area, where you will meet the community guide and be briefed before beginning your hike. The overall duration of the walk will be determined by where the chimps spent the night the day before.
After the monkey hike, return to the resort, or do the Canopy walk right away to rest. The canopy walk offers stunning views of the forest from above while you observe nature.
8
Day 8: Colobus Monkey Trekking
This morning, we go for the briefing site in the Nyungwe forest. After the briefing, the community guide will lead you on the Colobus monkey hike. When in the same group, habituated troops are often large, although they are frequently divided into smaller groups. Enjoy the monkeys' fun interactions as they groom, feed, and play with one another. You are given one hour in their presence before beginning your journey back.
9
Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes national park
We travel for Volcanoes National Park after breakfast. Enjoy the many landscapes and meandering roads in the Land of a Thousand Hills. Depending on your needs, you will have the opportunity to make several stops for photographs and stretching.
Drive time - 6 hours or helicopter (Robinson) - 35 minutes.
10
Day 10: Gorilla trekking
Meet the mountain gorillas in the deep jungles of the Virunga range. The walk to the gorillas begins with a briefing at the park headquarters in Kinigi, where you will be given a ranger and a gorilla family to accompany you. Following the briefing, your ranger guide will accompany you to the start of the journey. Depending on where the gorilla group is, you may need to drive to the start of the hike. The walk into these big animals' habitats is a rewarding and unforgettable experience that many people want to have. The walk can last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, depending on where the gorillas nested the night before.
11
Day 11: Golden Monkey Trekking at Gorilla Guardians Village
Just as yesterday, your driving guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing before you begin your trip. Golden monkeys are often more active than gorillas, so you will need to move as you follow them looking for food. Once you've found them, you can only spend an hour with them before returning to your starting point.
When you return from the park, go to the Gorilla Guardians Village. Use the morning to visit the gorilla guardian’s community and learn more about Rwandan culture. Become a King or Queen for a day, learn to crochet, or use a bow and arrow.
